FAQ

Q: What's the difference between custom and semi-custom?

A: Every custom boat cover pattern begins by measuring each boat individually. Through computer aided design (CAD) we develop a pattern specific to a particular boat.

These boat covers are not "semi-custom" or "flexible fit" but a cover individually tailored to a specific boat, providing a clean, snug fit.

Semi-custom boat covers are designed to fit particular boat styles (i.e. fishing boats, tri-hull boats, etc.) covering a wide range of sizes but are not specific to an individual make and/or model of boat. They are designed to provide affordable protection, though not necessarily a perfect fit.

Q: Cotton or Polyester? What's the difference?

A: Cotton's natural fibers offer a soft texture and provide breathability to the canvas (so any trapped moisture can evaporate).

However, Mother Nature wreaks havoc on cotton and breaks down its fibers quicker than most man-made fibers, including polyester. While polyester canvas provides great strength and durably, it lacks the breathable properties of cotton. Sewing air vents into polyester boat covers offers valid solution.

Which material is best suited for my needs for custom boat covers or boat lift canopies?

Depending on how you plan to use your boat cover, each material we offer meets a specific need. Polyester's durability provides a great all-purpose cover if vented and is well-suited for the rigors of highway travel. The poly/cotton blends are good for boat storage and at the dock mooring.

Q: When traveling with my cover on my boat, what do I need to know?

A: Boat covers see the most abuse when traveling down the highway. To properly protect your boat and boat cover here are a few details to pay attention to: always pad sharp or obtrusive points with a towel or carpet patch. (ex. trolling motor blades, windshield hinges, etc). Firmly secure the cover to the trailer frame using rope, strapping, shock cords or other similar tie down systems.

Always cinch rope hem snugly. Pay attention to cover when driving, if there is any canvas flapping, STOP, and secure cover as necessary.

Q: What about covering my outboard motor?

A: If your boat has an outboard motor, your custom cover will come with a motor cover hood either sewn into the cover or as a separate cover.

Semi-Custom covers provide them as an option and can be added during the order process.
